Where do I start... Everybody but the owner were clueless of what they were doing, of what's on the menu and of what they have/have not... We were so excited to sit in the nicely decorated room that (unfortunately) did not pay close attention to those "signs". Bottled water appeared on the table without even asking us, but as it was over 90F outside, we didn't even mention it (that's being proactive I guess). The waiter (who was not actually the waiter, but was helping and the story goes on and on and on) started recommending items which were not on the menu. When I pointed at something I wanted, he said "you can't have hummus over rice, it is not eaten like that!". Ok, well, it is on the menu... So, why bother put it there if that's not the way you should eat it?! We ordered the seafood salad - although it says octopus, they were out of octopus. I wouldn't say we had seafood salad either - it was a close resemblance to what I have had at other places just because I found a piece of calamari... canned... Baba ganoush was good. And they got the order wrong and brought a salad that we did not order - which was actually the only thing we kind of liked (thank god they left it on the table even though it was not part of our order). The Hummus over rice was not indeed hummus over rice. There was rice and there were whole chickpeas...there was tomato sauce and chunks of chewy vegetables. The baklava was super super dry (maybe it wasn't baklava after all?!). So, even though we were not quite happy, the owner was very friendly and that sort of diluted our bad feeling... Not for long... I had sick stomach the next day. Ugh! I really wanted to like this place. It is decorated well... But wouldn't recommend it...

Two thumbs down. If only we had read the Yelp reviews ahead of time! Like U. F., we had high hopes for this place, but it was a huge disappointment. Our experience was exactly as described in reviews from Irina L. and David K. 1 star for having a couple outdoor tables.

We only know this restart by the name Marhaba not Aladdin so the other reviews must be when it was under other ownership. My husband and I have been here 3 times in the last 5 months. Our first time was in February for a birthday. I was skeptical because of the bad reviews but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised and find this place to be a real gem. I had the chicken kabob and rice - it was absolutely tender and delicious. The rice was incredibly good. I had some kind of rice pudding for dessert that had coconut in it and it was amazing. My husband had a beef with rice and our birthday girl had lamb that was fabulous. She lives in New Hope and is a regular here. We've since had chicken shawarma and again same as the other 2 times delish! We've not had any experience with "bad" water. We bring wine and have that with our meals. I would also like to mention this is the ONLY middle eastern restaurant I've been to that has a belly dancer that isn't over qualified for her outfit. She was cute and entertaining. It was refreshing seeing a women without a belly doing a belly dance! I absolutely recommend this place. My husband and I are going tomorrow for dinner with friends. My only gripe - they don't take reservations. That's it.

Another reviewer mentioned the tap/bottled water situation, but I'll elaborate a bit on this topic in hopes that the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service is reading. According to Middle Eastern folklore, Aladdin was a little conniving thief, which is coincidentally the same mentality this restaurant has taken when serving its patrons. We were told that the owner didn't feel comfortable serving the restaurant's tap water because of a possible contamination, or some other top-of-the-head excuse from a clueless server. Luckily, I generally hope for tap water contaminations, or at least to be told about them before being served, so this was a huge perk that really helped build my hunger and raise my expectations. I'm obviously kidding, but I don't think there was any sort of contamination, because neither I nor any of my dinner mates had any sort of illness following our meals. I can't say that's necessarily because we were forbidden from the tap water, but most likely because there was no contamination. It was just a sick and twisted way to get customers to pay additional money for their meals. I'm fairly certain the guys in the kitchen aren't taking out bottles of water to use in the actual cooking so either the owner's throwing away his/her moral compass making people pay for water, or they're indeed using contaminated water in their cooking. The USDA can look into that. Regardless, the food was sub-par, dishes were served minutes between one another, appetizers came out with the main course, and we had a really creepy server who didn't do anything to fix this mess. Thanks Aladdin for a [contaminatedly] forgettable meal!

Our first visit to Aladdin can only be described as adorable. We went on the first sunny spring day in March. We were greeted as if we were old friends. The tables outside were wiped down for us immediately, we didn't even ask! Our waitress was attentive and made us comfortable. There was nobody else in the restaurant so we were able to sit wherever we wanted. The couch by the bay window is great! My lamb soup was rather bland and my gyro was a little watery. Other from that, my experience was pleasant!

Wasted our money. Bland, bland chicken gyro sandwich. Chicken Schwarzwald sandwich bland and overpriced. Falafel sandwich: what did they do to those chickpeas? What strange seasoning did they add? The babaganoush was oily and not typical roasted eggplant flavor. Here's the kicker: waitress said," if you want anymore pita, just let me know." So we did..she charged us $1.00 more for about 4 little triangles of pita. Extremely slow service. Pros: we enjoyed the guitarist playing at the pizza joint next door!

Terrible. Do not go. Falafel bordered on ok and the rest was bland and lacking care. Waitstaff is new. Decor is interesting and might be an okay Hooka spot to chill and BYOB. Stay away from the Tagine, meat pie and anything else but the sandwich. Spatola's next door is a much better choice. This place will be out of business soon if they don't get their act together.

I made the mistake of not checking yelp before I ate here. I was making a quick trip to Lambertville on this fine sunny day and decided to make a quick trip to New Hope for lunch before I headed to work. I guess everybody else had the same idea because it was difficult to find parking. I ended up parking farther than expected from my target resto.. I was in a rush because I had to head to work, so I randomly picked the nearest place on the walk to my car. Stupid me, I assumed every place in New Hope would be great. Service was ok, but I'm not complaining. She was accommodating to my needs. Only bottled water, which I assumed was a total hustle. I ordered the falafel, which was just ok. Made with fava beans apparently, as stated by the waitress.. because it's Egyptian..although I thought it was Mediterranean food.. at a place named Aladdin.. forgive me if I'm wrong, but is that Indian?? I was in too much of Rush to piece it all together. I also ordered an app platter to go. But when the food came out, I was a little disappointed in the quality. That's when I hit up yelp, and it all made sense... I regretted ordering the platter. But que sera. '........ Just has the platter. Not bad. But I'll be checking out other places o on my next visit.

I had high hopes. New Hope desperately needs a place like this. Good and fresh middle eastern foods and reasonable prices. Despite two poor reviews, we decided to give it a shot for lunch. Before ordering, we requested water and were told that the owner will not allow them to serve tap water. You must buy bottled water. WHAT? (You heard that right.) I've never experienced that in the US before. Unbelievable. Ordered "freshly made" grape leaves stuffed with rice. I'm pretty sure what we were served was not freshly made, but freshly removed from a big can. Ordered the mixed appetizer plate. Good middle eastern flavors, though a bit salty. Humus was unusual but good. Falafels were lemony but reasonable, if a bit over-fried. The menu is strange. Some simple salads like we ordered coupled with fancy and pricey platters. I had hopes that this place would provide good, cheap, fresh middle eastern food, but it doesn't deliver. The food is okay, not great. The no water policy is absurd and unforgivable. Too bad.

The short of it: clueless wait staff, obvious short-cuts in food quality and prep, a total disorder in food delivery to the table: an absolute disappointment of a meal. Well, we did enjoy the wine we brought. Been there..... tried that........ no, thank you. Longer version: since we come to New Hope frequently in the summer, we've seen this restaurant being prepped and decorated over time, and made a point of checking it out - since all four of us are global travelers. Our friends are Portuguese; my husband is from Central Asia, and we just returned from a lengthy trip to Morocco. So we were really looking forward to trying out this "Mediterranean fusion with a decidedly Egyptian bent and pronounced Moroccan, Israeli, Greek and Italian influences", as stated by one local reviewer. This should have been a clue to "spread too thin and/or confused in its objectives". For appetizers, we settled on sharing a grilled octopus salad, a Cairo Nights salad [of chopped herring, cilantro, lime] and a combo appetizer platter: hummus, baba ganush, the mashed potato salad, falafel and fresh veggies. For mains, we selected to share an entrée of grilled tilapia, ox tails and a platter of grilled vegetables [which I was first told was made up of cauliflower, peas and carrots - and truly had to question the waitress as to how one grills peas!! She had to run to the kitchen for the umpteenth time to find out exactly what the platter was made of. Really???] First came the octopus salad: oh, so clearly pried from an opened can, the tiny octopi thrown on a flat top, and garnished with a couple of red onion rings and a pinch of greens. The taste still has the remnant flavors of the can marinade.... Not a good start.... Soon, the chopped herring salad arrived - though not too appealing to look at, the flavor is decent, though a bit too citric: I guess from a lime squeezed on top. The accompanying basket of pita had 6 (!) cold quarter slices for a table of 4. Geez!.... Waiting for the appetizer combo....... Waiting...... The grilled vegetable arrive - lots of zucchini and squash, a few slivers of peppers, some mushroom, anemic looking asparagus, and thick potato slices. But it looked truly grilled, though mushy: which leads me to believe these were grilled ahead of time, and thrown back for a quick warm-up. Enter the grilled tilapia: pale, underwhelming, looked like a limp mass in the center of the plate, surrounded by mushy, overcooked frozen-bag vegetable medley of peas, carrots & green beans. Where is the sear from the grill? It looked BOILED, not grilled.... I took literally a fork-full, and barely swallowed a dry piece of fish, drowning in lemon juice! The side of rice was delivered on its own plate: and even IT was surrounded by the infamous peas, carrots, and green beans AND potatoes: do tell WHO serves starch with starch??? We finally received the appetizer combo platter (!!) as our last entrée of ox tails arrived. The former we already had no interest in.... the latter had the most appeal of anything presented to us during this unusual dining expedition : four average size ox tail pieces laid out on a platter (darn it! Enough of these supermarket-bagged-vegetables already!), but two were obviously not trimmed, and large chunks of fat were looking back at us. By the time you trim the fat, remove the center bone, you end up with about two bites of actual meat. It was flavorful and the highlight of the dinner, but way too little to enjoy for the price. We picked at the combo platter: falafel patties too dry; hummus and baba ganush too little even for two people to share, let alone four. I did gobble down the chunks of fresh cucumbers and tomatoes, as that was the freshest, most appetizing food for me. Well, $80 later for three apps and three mains, we left with no interest whatsoever of even considering this place for a second chance....

Oh, my, this place was bad. The spanicopita was good, as was the mixed salad, with oil and vinegar on the side. Unfortunately, the beef kebabs were shoe leather that tasted of nothing but cumin, with overcooked veggies on the side that were swimming in mint. Our waitress was fine. It wasn't her fault that the cook has no clue what he's doing.
